Summary

Five years ago, I nearly lost everything。 But there was a glimmer of hope on that darkest night。 There was him—a stranger I could never forget。

Now, I’m finally getting the fresh start I’ve longed for。 But when I show up to interview for a nanny position in the small mountain town, the single dad has startlingly familiar blue eyes。

Eyes that have haunted my dreams for the past five years。

Lawson Hartley is everything I know I can’t have。 Older, handsome, and my boss。 Not to mention the shadows in his eyes that tell me he has demons, too。

Still, he seems to understand me better than anyone I’ve ever met。 So gentle and careful of my scars, yet somehow making me believe I’m stronger than I ever thought possible。

And when his lips touch mine, I’m lost。

We find what we've been missing in each other。 But the terrors of my past aren’t done with me yet, and this time, Lawson might not be able to save me。。。

All the feels。 Lawson, Hallie and the boys are by far my favorite Hartleys。 This book had me laughing and crying and as always I love the glimpse into the other Hartleys。

WOW! As far as I’m concerned Catherine Cowles can do NO WRONG!!Ashes of You, is book 5 in the Lost and Found series and it is everything。 Lawson and Hallie are both electrifyingly great characters。 This book was definitely a page turner and I was hooked from start to finish。 I loved everything about this one。 The chemistry between Hallie and Lawson。 The small town feel, suspense, and Lawson’s boys, of course。 Okay let’s talk tropes: Small town, Single dad, Nanny。 Check。 Check。 Check。 This book h WOW! Ashes of You’ was a book I read in only a day。 I was really looking forward to reading Lawson’s story, and I found myself being hooked to the pages。 And this book definitely exceeded my expectations。 I loved it。 Lawson’s character was my favorite。 I loved how hard he worked, even though he didn’t have to, and how much he loved his boys。 And those boys where so charming!Hallie’s character was another great one。 She had some anxiety problems, which where so understandable and the way she dealt wit Ashes of You’ was a book I read in only a day。 I was really looking forward to reading Lawson’s story, and I found myself being hooked to the pages。 And this book definitely exceeded my expectations。 I loved it。 Lawson’s character was my favorite。 I loved how hard he worked, even though he didn’t have to, and how much he loved his boys。 And those boys where so charming!Hallie’s character was another great one。 She had some anxiety problems, which where so understandable and the way she dealt with them was really impressive。 Would I hire a nanny with anxiety problems to take care of my kids? Well, probably not。。 but it fitted the story。 The whole age gap didn’t bother me at all。 Lawson mentioned it himself a few times, but I wouldn’t have noticed other wise。There was a great slow-burn romance going on and it made this a book I didn’t want to put down。 Lawson and Hallie where so fun! So I read till late at night and honestly, I’m sad I’m finished with this series。 It’s probably a good thing for Cedar Ridge though, with all these aggressive people that seem to find their town! LOL!‘Ashes of You’ was a great story and the prefect ending to the series。 Yes, you can read this book as a standalone。 But honestly I think it’s much better to read these books in order。 I can’t wait what Catherine has in store for us next。 。。。more

4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐🎧 WOW, what a book。 I loved it。 I hated what our heroine had to go through。 Man, oh man, she comes out on the right side。 Swinging。 She isn't going to let what happened to her make her cower; she is going to live her life。 And that starts with going back to where she felt right。 Getting a job, and hey, if that just so happened to be in line with Lawson's fate! Lawson wasn't expecting Hallie, but man, he can't say no。 He was sucked into her orbit along with his boys。 His boys were so 4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐🎧 WOW, what a book。 I loved it。 I hated what our heroine had to go through。 Man, oh man, she comes out on the right side。 Swinging。 She isn't going to let what happened to her make her cower; she is going to live her life。 And that starts with going back to where she felt right。 Getting a job, and hey, if that just so happened to be in line with Lawson's fate! Luck, Drew, and Charlie totally steal the show!!I love how much you can feel Lawson's love for his kids and how much Hallie loves them right from the get-go。 How much she wants to keep them protected even from her past。 This is a fantastic book; I can't wait for the next one。 You can NOT go wrong with these narrators。 I loved Sebastian's performance; you could feel the emotions it dang near brought me to tears。 Ava, I swear she is trying to get to my number one female spot for narration because she was exceptional in this book。 My only issue。 I love a good nickname, don't get me wrong, but I must take a star off because it worked, and it didn't work for me。 I don't know。 Maybe it was in the way or when she used it that threw me because it would take me out of the story。 "Blue," I get because of his eyes; it was the first thing she saw。 But near the end, I was like, I am over it。 。。。more

I’m never ready to say goodbye to a series I’ve spent so much time with。 This one was extra special because Lawson has played such a big role since book one so I felt like we really got to know him before Ashes of You。 We were all rooting for his book because as chief of police, he is always helping others and he deserved his happy ending。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Lawson is a dad of 3 boys and the chief of police。 Needless to say, he has a lot on his plate。 Juggling extracurriculars on top of his very demandin I’m never ready to say goodbye to a series I’ve spent so much time with。 This one was extra special because Lawson has played such a big role since book one so I felt like we really got to know him before Ashes of You。 We were all rooting for his book because as chief of police, he is always helping others and he deserved his happy ending。 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Lawson is a dad of 3 boys and the chief of police。 Needless to say, he has a lot on his plate。 Juggling extracurriculars on top of his very demanding job, he decides to swallow his pride and find a nanny。 His third interview is someone he has known in the past。 Hallie was taken by a madman and help captive for 33 days。 When she finally escaped, it was Lawson who found her in the woods and rescued her。 Five years later, she’s still learning to cope with her PTSD and decides to return to the area she once loved and find a new job。 Lawson hires Hallie because not only does he think she needs the fresh start but she’s the best person for the job。 Seeing Hallie not only fall in love with Lawson but also Charlie, Drew, and Luke was so sweet and the perfect ending to this series! And all I have to say about the plot twist: I KNEW it。 I knew it I knew it I knew it!! While I’m sad that the Hartley books are done, I got so invested in the sneak peek for Fragile Sanctuary! I can’t wait for the release in May 😊 。。。more

★★★。 The final book in the Lost & Found series and it was good but I expected more。 After reading Roan’s book, I was expecting this one to be phenomenal five stars all around and it had so much potential but then fell flat。 What I liked about this book was the strength that Catherine wrote for Hallie and how she used techniques to help her anxiety。 I also loved how she wrote the relationship with the boys and the other family members。 I also loved the relationship and softness of Lawson and Hall ★★★。 The final book in the Lost & Found series and it was good but I expected more。 After reading Roan’s book, I was expecting this one to be phenomenal five stars all around and it had so much potential but then fell flat。 What I liked about this book was the strength that Catherine wrote for Hallie and how she used techniques to help her anxiety。 I also loved how she wrote the relationship with the boys and the other family members。 I also loved the relationship and softness of Lawson and Hallie。 His protectiveness over her was so good。 He was all in once he realized his feelings。 His relationship with the sons was so heartbreaking especially when we found out what their mom did but I loved how it was handled! What I didn’t like now…。why was Drew talking like he didn’t know two words? Why was Nash written like a child? Why was the ending rushed? There was so many opportunities for a third act and there should have been one considering they jumped into a relationship without much to go on but their past。 As much as I loved how the Luke situation was handled, I wish it was a little more painful。 The reveal of the killer…。WHY? It should’ve been built up from the other books and not just thrown in。 I will be continuing with Catherine’s new series because I love her writing, but I hope she doesn’t listen to one specific audience and instead everyone! “Stay in the now,” he said。 “She’s scared and alone。” That muscle beneath Lawson’s eye fluttered。 “And it reminds you of being scared and alone。” “No one should feel that way。 No one,” I whispered。 He tightened his hold on my fingers。 “But you’re not alone now, are you?” I stared into those deep blues again, watching the emotions swirl faster。 “No。 I’m not。” 。。。more

This one was pretty good。 Lawson’s long awaited story did not disappoint。 I don’t usually mind age gap romances, and this one wasn’t bad。 It’s just that Halle was so close in age to Luke。 That was a little weird for me。 But overall, a good read。 I love romances where the couple gets together and stays together。 I love it when misunderstandings don’t last long, and they work things out within a few pages。 This whole series was like that, and it was so comforting to read。

Swooooooon!!!!!I was so excited to see this land on my kindle!! I was lucky in being late to the party on this series so I had been able to binge one after the other without having to wait so I’ve been dying to read about Lawson!!!!Lawson our MMC is the towns chief of police, he’s a single dad to 3 boys and he feels like no matter how hard he tries he’s failing his boys at every turn especially his 16 year old who seems to have turned into himself the last year and barely speaks to anyone。 Our F Swooooooon!!!!!I was so excited to see this land on my kindle!! I finished this book in 4 hours it was so addictive I couldn’t put it down!5⭐️1。5🌶️ 。。。more

。。。more

Ashes of You by Catherine Cowles ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️So bittersweet reading this book, knowing it is the last of the series。 Maybe the next generation will get a spin-off series??? Lawson and Hallie’s story started five years prior when Lawson found Hallie during a search and rescue operation after she was kidnapped by a crazed serial killer。 She was held and tortured for thirty-three days before she escaped and was rescued by Lawson。 Fast forward five years later, when Hallie shows up at Lawson’s house to interview for a nanny position。 They have not seen each other since that fateful day five years ago, but they immediately recognize each other。 The fire between the two is immediately noticeable but they don’t act on it。 While Lawson and Hallie get to know each other, a madman still lingers in the shadows。 Kidnappings and murders in the area ramp up with Hallie’s return and the killer is closer than they realize。 Beyond the storyline of a serial killer, the backbone of this book (and entire series) is love。 Yes, Lawson saved Maddie from a madman, twice。 But Maddie also saved Lawson from his own demons。 Through reading the other books in the series, who see the cracks in the foundation of Lawson’s immediate family but you don’t realize until Ashes of You just how broken his family is。 The most beautiful part of this story is Maddie relationship with Lawson’s children。 There are laughs, tears, and heartache (omg, that scene at the high school!!! ), all which lead to Maddie being an integral part of the Hartley family。I am so excited to read Anson’s heartbreaking story, Fragile Sanctuary, in a new series to be released May 16, 2024。 In the meantime, I definitely recommend reading any of Catherine Cowles’ other series。 Very uncommon to find an author who can write so many series, with each series having very different storylines。 。。。more
